| Why does Windows
98 stick at the shutdown screen? |
There are several
reasons why this might happen. Normally this is either a TSR
issue with a program, or a driver issue. Sometimes it can be
resolved by visiting Microsoft Update and downloading the
fixes and patches. However, sometimes a program will not
shutdown properly and will cause Windows to hang. You'll need
to determine what program is sticking and either remove the
program or visit the software's website for updates. A quick
method to determine if this is the situation, use the CTRL +
ALT + Delete key combination to bring up the Task Manager. You
can manually shutdown all of the running programs except for
Explorer and Systray. If the PC now shuts down properly,
restart and use a process of elimination to determine which
program is causing the woes.
